The 21st Anniversary of Best of Tahoe Chefs brings together the region’s most popular and talented chefs, all to support the oncology support services for cancer patients and their caregivers at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center. Chefs eagerly donate a tremendous amount of time in planning the menu. We are so grateful for their generosity and show of support to our community.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All registered guests receive complimentary Valet Parking
This important fundraising event is on a Sunday night this year! Hosted at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, the event starts promptly at 4:30pm.
We are using an electronic event management system that makes checking in fast and easy, makes purchasing items simple, and check-out quick. The system creates an “account” for you by using a unique numbered barcoded wristband that is assigned to you. You will use your unique wristband number for auction bidding and donations.
When you check in, we will place a wristband on you, ask for your last name so we can pull up your pre-registration information in the system, and electronically capture and encrypt your credit card for any purchases or donations you make at the event.
Our staff will be ready to check you out before you leave. You can use your credit card that is on file, use a check, or cash to pay for your purchases. If you won any auction items, we will bestow your auction certificate at the conclusion of the evening at check-out. If you forget to checkout, we will automatically charge your credit card for your purchases or donation.
4:30PM – 6PM - We start the Best of Tahoe Chefs event at 4:30pm with wine, beer and kombucha tastings and appetizers from participating Chefs.
6PM – Guests are escorted to the main ballroom to start the seated dinner and program.
Chefs divided the courses and the ballroom between them to allow for a unique culinary experience created specifically for your dining enjoyment. This differs from a typical banquet service where every guest is served the identical plated dish. Each section of the ballroom will be served with a unique creation from the chef assigned to those tables. This allows for a fine dining experience to 400 guests at one time. Each chef assigned to a particular course has the same primary ingredient to work with, but will prepare them in their own way.
In between each course, we will conduct a LIVE AUCTION. Each Chef package is unique. Guests can bid on unique private chef auction packages that have been donated generously by all of our participating chefs. Be sure to review auction packages on the website Chef Auction Packages.
During the entire evening, guests will also have an opportunity to bid on any of the SILENT AUCTION packages in addition to an opportunity to participate in “Community Generosity." The Community Generosity segment of the evening provides an opportunity for all guests to make donation that will directly benefit local cancer patients and their caregivers. Your donation may be made in memory or in honor of a loved one. All donor names and tribute gifts will be published in the local media post event.

The Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center offers an integrated approach to psychosocial needs before, during and after treatment. This whole-person approach to cancer care addresses the social, psychological, emotional and functional aspects of the journey to improve the quality of life for the patient, family and caregiver. Each of these programs is provided at no cost to patients and is offered through your generous philanthropic support. 100% of proceeds from the Best of Tahoe Chefs goes directly to support these programs.
